Shaun Tan "The Arrival"

His possessions and family are very hard to leave. He packs his bags and gives his farewells. Tears fall from his eyes as he opens the door.

The train comes and he hugs his daughter, he steps onto the train, he can feel his life unfolding in front of his eyes. His wife and child walk back home. He looks at his family picture and weeps. A storm cloud of sorrow hangs over the boat. Rain pours down as he shuffles across the deck.

As he makes a swan, little white birds fly overhead, little white birds of hope. Suddenly he feels strong. The boat arrives at the harbor. Men are shouting and giving orders as he feels the boat lurch. The boat stops and he picks up his bag and walks into the dreaded city.
