The Beach

I ran, silent as a statue,
That stands there day and night,
When all of a sudden, at a glance,
I see the dark blue sea,
Over the hill,
Beside the mill,
The sea shimmered and shined.

As nice as the vast night sky,
The sea was a mirror, glinting in the sun,
With waves that engulfed the soft whit sand,
waiting to be seen or heard.

Fish danced in between the waves,
But the shimmering sea out-did the dancing fish with glee,
I watched and watched,
until my eyes grew heavy
and my sight grew dim.

I go back to that beach every night and every day,
To see the dark blue sea,
And in my dying moment,
Within my long last breath,
I see the ocean smiling up at me
